Frequently asked questions

GPS accuracy is poor or the app can't find a signal

GPS requires a clear view of the sky. Accuracy is typically poor indoors, underground, or in dense urban canyons. Wait outdoors for the accuracy indicator to improve before starting a ride.

The app applies a 50-meter accuracy filter — trackpoints with GPS accuracy worse than 50 m are discarded automatically to reduce noise in recorded routes.

Elevation data looks wrong

If your device has a barometer, enable it under Settings → Barometer for altitude for more accurate and smoother elevation readings. Without a barometer, elevation comes from GPS altitude, which can have significant error (often ±10–30 m).

Strava upload fails or shows "authentication error"

Your Strava token may have expired or been revoked. Go to Settings → Strava, tap Disconnect, then tap Connect with Strava to re-authorize.

How do I export a ride as a GPX file?

  1. Open the History tab and tap the ride.
  2. On the ride detail screen, tap the Share icon.
  3. Choose Share GPX to send the file via the system share sheet (email, messages, Drive, etc.).

How do I send a ride to Ride with GPS?

Ride with GPS has no upload API, but you can hand a ride to its app to import:

  1. Open the History tab and tap the ride.
  2. Tap the Share icon and choose Share GPX.
  3. In the system share sheet, pick the Ride with GPS app to import the ride.

The ride's title and notes carry over as the activity name and description. After import, choose your bike under Gear in Ride with GPS — this also sets the activity type, which otherwise shows as Unknown. Ride with GPS determines activity type from the assigned gear, not from the GPX file, so gear and type can't be filled in automatically.

How do I delete a ride?

On the ride detail screen, tap the trash icon in the top right corner.

The screen turns off during rides

Go to Settings and enable Keep screen on during rides. This uses the wakelock to prevent the display from sleeping while you are recording.

The navigation bar disappears during a ride

This is controlled by Settings → Hide navigation during ride. Disable it if you prefer the bottom nav to stay visible.
